University Admission
attended both the NUS and NTU held in sch for the past 2 days..
and aft attending both of them.. here are some of wad i managed
to find out:
1) NUS DOES NOT allow poly grads INCLUDING COM (Top 5%) to choose
any other courses that are irrelevant to their Diploma studies.
2) NUS Arts & Social Science and Business Adminstration is open
open to all Diploma holders and to all polytechnics.
3) NUS only takes in 10% poly grads, which is abt 600 students.
4) NTU ALLOWS poly grads with COM (Top 5%) to choose ANY other
courses that are not relevant to their diploma studies with no
advance standing to year 2.
5) NTU guarantees freshmen a hostel place for the 1st year.
6) NTU claims to take 2/3 of poly students who managed to get
into the local university, so to say around 1200 students.
for my course Diploma in Business Informatics, i'm only allow
to enrol into Degree of Computing, Degree of Business Admin
and Degree of Arts & Social Science for NUS.. but for NTU..
i'm free for all with my COM.. but the problem comes here..
i realised something over at the website of NUS and NTU.. and
that's.. NTU dun seems to hav a School of Computing.. they do
offer Degree of Computer Science.. but its gg to be Engineering
Degree..
whereas.. NUS has Degree of Computing with 4 different
programmes like..
Electronic Commerce (computing + biz)
Computer Engineering (computing + engineering)
Communications and Media (computing + arts and social science)
Computational Biology (computing + science)
and these 4 are direct 4-years entry to Honours.. and its a
Computing Degree..
i'm kinda puzzled by NUS and NTU computing degrees.. jus wad is
the main difference? and many are claiming tt NTU is better..
why is tt so? and i'm tinking of gg into other faculty and not
to do IT anymore for my degree.. but will it be a waste?
closing date for online application to NUS and NTU ends at 21st
Feb.. serious advice is needed..
what shld i take?
where shld i go?
